Default File naming?

I have an question about how protools auto names regions as they are recorded. In our facility, we'll typically name the track we are recording too something like "vo_jeff_0922" So obviously its what type of recording it is, the VO name and the date. So all my regions look like

vo_jeff_0922_01
vo_jeff_0922_02
vo_jeff_0922_03 etc.

Now if jeff comes back for the same project a week later, I would like to name the file vo_jeff_0930 and have it start over at take/region number one, but instead it continues on with 4,5,6 etc. Now if I completely rename the entire track it will start over, but simply changing the date does not force it start over.

Is there someway to change this? or does it have to be a feature request?

Use a period...

vo_jeff_0922.01

when you create a new playlist it'll be named:

vo_jeff_0922.02

Regions are based on the track name and are appended with _nnn which constantly increases (as you've seen). To start the region numbers from 1 again, you'd have to create a new track.

You could leave out the underscore altogether.

vo_Jeff0922

PT will treat this date as part of the text instead of as a separate number, and changing the date will restart your numbering at 01.

I go Rail's way, put the period in. Things will increment in digits. Doing it right now with Documentary and it's really helping.
