Core Audio not launching with PT 7.3.1cs6

I'm having a problem getting Core Audio to launch with PT 7.3.1cs6.

Rig has been working fine for many months in the same config.

I have done all the diagnostic housekeeping stuff and still no solution.

Any ideas?

OK folks....I've discovered what it was and if you're using RTAS plugs in 'stand alone' mode on occasion you may want to take note.

A few nights ago I was tinkering with Native Instruments Battery 3, which I use for various things, in stand alone mode. To do that you have to assign CoreAudio as the audio output device. Well it turns out that when you are done you need to unassign CoreAudio as Battery 3 (as probably most NI products do as well since they are PC friendly) will not let CoreAudio go back to its normal state of affairs.

Ergo, when you boot up ProTools it won't assign the CoreAudio because Battery won't release it. It also affected QuikTime Pro 7.4.1 as well so be aware of this if you have any quirky behaviour that is similar.

I'll post this to the NI site as well and see if it's a bug they are seeing as well.
