Default Do new/extra plug-ins reduce amount of free DAE memory?

working on friend's PTLE system... everything going swimmingly for months.

install some new plug-ins -- waves bundle of RTAS stuff.

now we're getting constant DAE errors and low memory.

even old session that used the digi-compressors and digi-eqs (i.e. they have none of the new plugs in the session) are now disabling the old plugs when you open the session, saying there's not enough memory for the DAE.

i've increased buffer size and memory allocated to the DAE... but my question is: have these new plug-ins eaten up DAE memory (much as extensions do in the system)???

thanks in advance.

tom.

Have you also increased memory allocation to PT? Disable all extensions except Mac OS base, PT, DAE and OMS extensions.

Hope this is helpful.

done that -- thanks for the tip anyway.

i guess my question is more theoretical than practical:

does having more plug-ins in your system (not in a session) eat up more of the DAE's capacity?

(e.g. the more extensions you have, the more RAM is eaten up. Is it the same for the DAE? -- the more plug-ins you have in the plug-ins folder in the DAE, the more strain you put on the DAE?..... lord i hope that makes sense. 'Cause if it does, it makes sense to make a custom plug-ins folder of only the plug-ins you like and use.)

kind regards, and sorry for the awkward nature of the question.

tom.

I think your theory is correct Tommydee. I know that Waves has you increase the size of the DAE memory allocation because the DAE has to load all of those plugins wheather you use them or not.

Maybe seperate plug-in folders would be a good idea.

If you add more plugins to the DAE plugins folder then you have to allocate more memory to DAE. Of course you can always remove the plugins that you don`t use.
