Upgrading from PTHD8 to HD10/11

We are upgrading from HD8 to HD10/11. Will we lose our HD8 license? The reason I ask is we are bit nervous about dumping HD8 while we get up and running on HD10. (We still want to use our TDM system so won't make the jump to 11HD at this time.)

First, be aware that the upgrade from HD8 to HD10 does NOT include HD11. It will include HD10 and HD9, and yes, it will make you surrender HD8.

The upgrade to HD11 from HD10 would be an additional $600 on top of the $1500 you already spent on HD8 to HD10.

I know you said you wouldn't be using 11 right now but I wanted to make you aware of what you would actually get.


The reason Avid does it this way is to avoid customers being confused, because HD11 will not work at all with TDM systems.

Skip the upgrade all together, and just go on eBay and buy ProTools 10 HD/11 HD for around 1400 bucks.
