On Vocals makes them sound like $%^@!

Yes, Elastic Audio can degrade the quality. It works better on some sounds than others. Used the right way on the right audio it is a very powerful tool. Better to make sure the vocal is performed right to begin with.

Sure that is right but what happens when you decide to try something different?

Yes Elastic Audio X-Form on Vocals in PT 11 sounds nasty.

I'm interested in this thread because I'm a remixer mostly these days, so recording them again is not an option if I want to change tempos. Is there a better option out there other than xform?

There are other time compressor/stretcher plugins out there. If I have to use Elastic Audio on a vocal, I use the Monophonic setting when changing the tempo, then apply X-Form right before committing - usually makes the quality a little better. I have clients that are ok with a slight loss of quality, and then others who are fine with re-singing a vocal for drastic tempo changes. All comes down to time and money.
