Default Core audio driver - more than 8 inputs? (hd3accel)

What is the workaround to get more than 8 inputs working via a 192 in my HD3 accel rig??

I need to work in DP and for many reasons soft synths are happier as AU's.
In native mode you can only get the first 8 inputs of the 192 working via the core audio driver.

Is there any way to access inputs 9-16 and/or the legacy port inputs??

Thanks for any tips on this one.
Its been a long time since I bounced around this forum. Decided to get off the bleeding edge about two years ago.
Now I'm not sure which hurts more - the bleeding edge or catching up 2 years later.
My head and wallet hurt the same each way.

Hi ed

You have to switch the DigitalPerformer engine from MAS(MotuAudioSystem)to DAE
which i think is on SETUP menu-->Audio System-->DAE
That way DP has full access o the 192 I/O and TDM plugz
Be sure to use DP version 4.61 and PT 6.9.X.PT7 wont work well(or at all))with DP4.6
DP5.0 is supposed to solve this incompatibility, other wise when operatin under CoreAudio the limit of 8 will remain

Hope that helps

Thanks mix for the post.

Sorry if I was unclear in my intial question.
I am well aware of (and usually do) run DP in DAE mode.
(I have been a PT owner since PT III and a dp user long before it had digital in its name! circa 1987!!)

DP in dae mode has issues with running VI's in rtas.
The dreaded cpu spiking issue being only one.

DP in mas mode is far more stable with VI's and I actually get a higher instance count in mas/AU.

The big drag is the core audio driver only sees the first 8 inputs. I have 3 gigastudio computers on the legacy port and a 4th on the adat port of the 192. All are useless in mas mode.

I was hoping that someone found a workaround for accessing those other inputs while in core audio.

?????????

You guys must realize how ridiculous this is. What purpose does it serve to deliberately cripple the 192?
It's not making me buy more digi hardware - its acutally making me buy an audio interface for native operation.

Life is much better with VI's in other apps and certainly better as AU's.

I may just make the move to a native rig. YEARS of the digi tierany may be ending for me.

I agree!! after spending $30,000 on a system that cannot do what my $1200 pc can do I am COMPLETELY disgusted.

Default This is the biggest [bleep] I´ve ever heard!

I just bought an upgrade from mix+ to HD3.
I told my digidesign dealer that I need to run Logic with full acess to the hardware in coreaudio mode to be compatible to
pre productions from other systems.
He said that will work with Pro tools 7 and Logic 7.2.
And now you guys want to tell me that it only works up to 8 Outputs.
Are you [bleep] crasy.
Digidesign hardware is not so cheap that I could accept this joke!

This is not a deliberate crippling of the hardware. The Core Audio driver still has to interact with the DAE engine and, currently, there is no way to enable more than 8 ins and outs when using TDM/HD cards and hardware. It works differently on LE because LE systems do not use any form of TDM processing.

OK, in that case, how about at least giving us the ability to specify
which of the 24 analog inputs on my HD192s are routed to the 8 core audio inputs.
This would save me from having to repatch my entire
studio every time I wanted to use the HD hardware with a non-Digi application!
