Take a look at everything that URS/McDSP/SonyOxford has to offer. there's no replacement for "platinum bundle" if you have become used to it, but if you're willing to change your toolset, then there are other great quality companies around than just Waves.

Is it possible to "downgrade" a TDM bundle to a native bundle?

I can imagine what the answer from waves could be: Yes but you have to be under current WUP!

Yes, but if you ever want to go back to TDM, you have to pay the (steep) upgrade fee.

Here's another option: purchase WUP, which will allow you to transfer the license for your TDM bundle to another user, and then sell your TDM bundle along with the iLok that contains the license. (Transfer any other licenses to another iLok first). There is a fee to do the license transfer, by the way. Then use proceeds from the sale to purchase a new native bundle.

I got my Platinum TDM bundle this way from a friend who was scaling back from his HD Accel system to an MBox, so he also needed to go with the native bundle. We both came out nearly $500 ahead by doing it this way. Your mileage will vary depending on how much you can get for your TDM bundle, what you have to pay for a native bundle, the price of WUP and the license transfer fee.

The only slightly weird thing is that the iLok is still on his iLok account since he registered it at ilok.com when he bought it and there's no way to transfer it to my iLok account. But it really doesn't matter - the Waves account is all that matters when it comes to iLoks and Waves licenses. Using this method the iLok and Platinum TDM license are transferred to the purchaser's Waves account. And if the purchaser adheres to the recommended practice of having only Waves licenses on an iLok dedicated for that purpose, they will be fine.
