Lee,
the meters are dead when you hit play.
when you scrub the meters work like normal and the audio plays back fine!!!!!

arghhh!!!!!!

No clocking issues. PT is the master.
I/O is fine. (thanks bmann!)

again ... The audio plays fine while scrubbing it.
Just when you hit PLAY you get no audio and no meters.

Lee, if you have a flashback of what the DOH! moment was please post!

doh!

Did you remove all plug-ins from the track? sometimes when my mixes got really big (on my old Mix / DSP Farm system) some plugs would randomly not pass audio - esp. after reorganizing plugs ... Scrub would work, but not playback.

Lots of questions:

No meters? In pre or post metering?

You've reassigned your hardware and switched to manually assigning voices to see if that helps?

You've set it to use the right type of I/O (888/24 vs 888) etc.?

In your I/O setup - everything looks kosher?

Audition is set to which outputs?

Disconnect all 888's except for 1 and try it.

How big are these sessions (how many tracks)?

Are there any plug-ins in them? (There were bugs in certain revisions of plug-ins which wouldn't pass audio until you opened their window).

I remember seeing this a long time ago...The solution I remember was to make a new track and copy (or move, I forget which) all the audio to the new track, then delete the original one. I don't think the files were at fault; just the original track output got corrupted. Could be worth a try...

I sometimes, very seldom, have this too. Two things have always helped. Either copy everything piece by piece to a new track and delete the first one.
Or, more simply, make the track inactive and then active again.

Once I had a different and really silly situation which took some time to find out. For no good reason the settings of a McDSP plugin were not remembered correctly and it had the high pass filter setting at maximum (16kHz I think). Of course you couldn't hear the track, it was the bass!

Cheers, Bob.

Hey Ed, its Paul from Ground Hog. You could try doiing a save session copy as with all the Audio files, and try playing that one. if it still dont work, bring the copy you made into the other room and see if it works there. Also check for virtual tracks and voice assignments. anyway, good luck, and hope to here from u soon bout some gigs.

Lets go.

NO plugs in the session.
The session opens fine in our other room.
All suggestions made so far have been tried and did not solve the problem.

Copying audio to a new track got the same result.

Digital Performer running DAE works perfectly (weird huh?)

ALL sessions opened in PT, even those that worked the day before ALL have the same problem.

Its starting to look like re install time.
I was hoping that it was something totally dumb and simple but alas no.

Thanks to all for the help. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

Ed

Are all your audio tracks not playing or just some? If just some, have you played around with the voice assignments?

OK - this is rather interesting

- Have you tried playing the audio file in the Import Audio Window? Also see if it has a length. Also you can try the old Option-Play out of the region list.

- Make a new session on a new drive and import the track (copy files) and see what happens?

Just some suggestions to see if it is a session issue or a file issue?

Good Luck,
B Mann
