UK RRP is up on Avid for any of us thinking of getting one, which are:

Mbox Mini £334.95

Mbox £587.95

Mbox Pro £757.95

I await the shop prices with great interest, as these prices are quite a lot more than the previous Mbox 2 models, so it will be interesting to see how close the manage to get them to the previous versions so that they look a lot more attractively priced (especially to us stingy Brits who always want the lowest prices on everything, even when it's just come out).

Oh, and for anyone interested, the current UK store prices for the Mbox 2 range are:

Mbox 2 Mini £208.32

Mbox 2 £319.99

Mbox 2 Pro £445.90

If UK buyers can hold fire, we are just fixing up a special deal for AUB users, it should go live in the next 48 hours.

We are also trying to sort one out Stateside, so also hold fire.

I have 002 rack and Mbox mini and they have always worked with Cubase
and Logic on both PC and Mac.
Anyway I'll be really happy if the pre's are in Apogee class so we can do
good 2 channel recordings. Looking forward to the 004 though.
The 'big hype' is that this interface is being advertised in the video as working with all other DAWs, not just a PT device. Even more, it currently does not offer the highest sampling rate with it's own software Pro Tools LE. This points to that being dealt with, at best, in the next refresh of PT or even better a native PT.

If you had half a dozen products to launch over a six month period, how would you schedule it?

If you're in business for money, you would make the schedule maximize wasteful customer spending.

Including staggering dates around retailer return periods.

It's clear that is what they have done, and that's why I warn off getting anything other than the middle mbox between now and NAMM. That product I think will still hold some value for small pt on the go. The others including the HD pieces I am not impressed by.

Some store prices have gone up today at Music Matter in the UK.

They are:

Mbox Mini RRP = £334.95 / STORE = £299.00

Mbox RRP = £587.95 / STORE = £529.00

Mbox Pro RRP = £757.95 / STORE = £699.00

They are not as drastic as the reductions being given in the US, which if matched over here would have been:

Mbox Mini RRP = £334.95 / STORE SHOULD BE = £275.00

Mbox RRP = £587.95 / STORE SHOULD BE = £485.00

Mbox Pro RRP = £757.95 / STORE SHOULD BE = £625.00

We shall see what other dealers decide in the coming days...

Hey BanjosOK, have you tried the new Mbox 3 core audio driver?

Curious to know how well it works with other recording apps like Logic,Cubase etc.

Though I'm looking forward to using Pro Tools more I'll still be using Logic
for some midi VI work. It'll be good to know I can get nice performance
with low buffers in Mainstage as well.

Peter, I'm curious, outside of totally new converters in the new HD high end boxes--which they apparently have... what did you expect them to have?

Skyflash-

I have not done much with the new Mbox, except work on my project, for which I needed pro tools. Its over 200gig, 65 songs, 56 tracks- Two nights of a benefit concert- Mostly listening. I will say that I have had zero problems with it, installed perfect, have had no issues at all.

I run an Avid compliant MacbookPro, the 17" right before the one piece, CoreDuo 2.4, 4gig ram, 500gig 7200 internal HD, latest OS. Nothing outrageous.

I have Cubase, but don't have time to mess with it-

cheers

Of course, I can only play the first 48 tracks of the 56 on my project. Only audience tracks on the last 8 anyway. We won't be mixing on the mbox, so i don't care-

I really like the portability of this middle Mbox unit. Just park it and its HD on the couch next to me, with laptop and headphones. Perfect for what I'm doing-
