Default Recording Drums

Here is my really stupid question: Can anyone think of a creative way to record drums on an m-box. I am really trying to do things on a budget right now and would like to attempt this without having to go to a studio to do drums...at least not yet. I just want to be able to mike a four piece with as few mikes as possible.

thanks

Two things come to mind:

1)go for the stereo technique, just get a pair of mics and get 'em placed well. This can work great.

2)mic the kit and make a sub-mix to a mixer, then take the stereo output to the mbox.

Bass Drum and overhead mics only or if you have access to MIDI hardware you could use Native Instuments Battery with some sample CDs such as Toontracks Drumkit from Hell - Battery only works in OS9 at the moment.

if the mbox can take 2 inputs, how about mic'ing the drum kit with as many mics as you need into a multi-channel mixer first, then sending the l/r outs from the mixer to the ins on the mbox?

Kick and overhead, one version of the two mic theory. I've done alot of recordings this way. Takes time and patience, but it can yield some awesome results.

Hope this is helpful.
