Why not wait for the release of v7.2 and see what Digidesign used for the OS during testing?

Hi Paul,

I was about to use that version so you do use QuickTime 7.1.2 ?
I'll check what Digi says but it seems the best choice.
I just hope PT will be able to output the DV stream from FW without a hitch !
Cheers,
Olivier

it's mentioned as part of the massivepack - saying that it's expected to ship on the 31st July.

i've been doing a bit of work around the Hollywood area at other studios as the vocalist likes air condo and i don't have it in my studio so we have tried various comparable priced rooms to mine

what i find is that many of the studio still use 6 and a rack of 888s

there must be a reason they never did the upgrade buy i know my HD4 rig sounds better ...way better

what's up with that

do they know something i don't?

i like dancing with the techno learning curve

but do with digi really really tested the stuff with real users with a few decades of experience that do similar functions to what i do..mix in the box and do song production.

no like the sample loopers and stretchers like you see at the NAMM show.

Well, I think it's mostly that we all paid as much for our Mix systems, as our cars. Dumping another 15 - 20k as an "Upgrade" away from a system which works rock solid, and has made several hit records... seems to be everyone's reason at this point, that I talk to, that didn't make the switch to HD.

I personally did, I got into an HD 3 Accel system w/ Ctrl24 4 months after it was available.

I try to remain reasonably cutting edge, with as little "Bleeding as possible" I generally give things a few months, I'm already playing on the Mac / Intel platform - and although my Mix System is still functional, it's rarely used anymore.

Not only does HD sound better.... My friends, the other studio owners mentioned above, who are on Mix systems, are technologically getting a little left in the dust.

They'll come to my place, see me rewiring Melodyne, using instrument tracks, slaving Reason, Ableton, and other apps from Pro-Tools, in a production environment they don't understand.

Some of them are still on OS 9 PT 5.x and don't even know their way around OS X to troubleshoot, for maintenance, or even simple file organization, management.

As an engineer, I definitely want to remain as knowledgeable, about the most current technology available.

"When I can afford it" I always invest in upgrades, and purchase new technology.

I'm sure within a year, I'll have an HD system running on Mac / Intel with several FW drives bootable with the Universal OS X - (I'm just too busy, finishing 2 records right now, to do any major upgrades)
