Small workflow problem in listen-mounting
Small workflow problem in listen-mounting.
You have to listen to twenty groups of 3 tracks (audio 2 + 1 "midi") placed in parallel (vertical) in your editing window (to make a choice, for example). I give a simplified visual example. See image. You make each listening: Click + Shift-S + Play ? So: Click + Shift-S + Play, Click + Shift-S + Play, Click + Shift-S + Play ... etc. And if you do this for 50 segments following .... I wonder what the users are doing in this case for sound or musical montage. PT does not allow automatic SOLO function on the selected track. It does not, even with the focus function, the simple "S" for SOLO. And it does not allow macros. I prefer PT, but I remember that in Cubase or Nuendo, allowing the three things (automatic solo, single "S" for SOLO, and macros), I'm just: Click + Play. So: + Click + Play, Click + Play, Click + Play ... etc. I would like your way around in PT handicap. Please describe the sequence here. Thanks !

Re: Small workflow problem in listen-mounting
Your groups, are they Mix-and-Edit-Groups ? With the attribute "Solo" checked ?
Then, click any S of one of the group members and hit play. Or, 2 Fingers of left hand for "Shift S". 2 Fingers of right hand for "Play" (Spacebar) and "Move Edit Selection up/down". No need to look down on the keyboard.

Re: Small workflow problem in listen-mounting
Also, you can change the solo behavior to x-or instead of in-place.
Afaik this is all explained in the manual.

Re: Small workflow problem in listen-mounting
I know all this and this is what I do:. or P-click-shift-S-play; or P-click-shift-S-play; or P-click-shift-S-play... That which is slow compared to Cubase.

Re: Small workflow problem in listen-mounting
I do that. It's not that. It helps, but not enough. Cubase: + click-play. Pro Tools: Clik-Shift/S-play. Twice keys. 100 clip plays, or 400 keys instead of 200.
