Will sounfonts work with other soundcards.

I am using a MSI K7T Turbo Limited motherboard and it has built in sound.(the sound is disabled at the moment). I use the Digi001 and have been reading the posts about soundfonts. This looks like somthing I could use. I have a Soundbaster Live but I am trying to avoid using more PCI bus bandwith. (I do not know if the built in sound uses the same bandwith)I am not lacking for PCI slots as I have 6 and am only using 2 (digi001 card and an ethernet adapter). Thanks for any info.
