Midi Help please

I have an Mbox version I and I am trying to control Pro Tools with a Mackie HUI using a midiman 1x1. Pro Tools is giving me the message that it is loosing communications the HUI. The faders do respond on screen but the message still appears. What midi interfaces are being used successfully other than an Mbox II?
