Default too much timeline

When I open a new session, I end up with tons of timeline. When I record, my session gets crowded into a small area. I end up with too much timeline, which is annoying as well as having to find the session, sorting through empty space. Is there any way to get rid of the extra timeline either as I am opening a new session or deleting it after I set up the new session?

Is it zooming in the edit window that’s your problem? Sounds like you lack some basic understanding of the PT interface.
Have you checked the manual at all?

No, it is not a zooming problem, and other people I have talked to about this have the same problem, but no one knows what to do about it. There is nothing in the manual about this. My Boss has the same problem and has been working with Pro Tools for years. Of course we can zoom out to get the desired visual, but that does not eliminate the extra measures ie: timeline.

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about here..

You can limit the timeline in your prefs by changing the Default Length... or you can display your complete session in the timeline by simply double clicking the Zoom Tool.
