Default OT: Mic for Acoustic Gtr and Vocals;Does it exist?

The Subject says it all. I am currently working with Oktava MK012 and MK319 mics. Picked 'em up at GC for 100 dollars each. They sound pretty good to me on the acoustic guitar, but vocals leave alot to be desired (I use the MK319 for vocals; havn't tried the MK012 for vocals yet). Advice?

Røde NTK's are a popular choice for vocals, and I've heard they are nice for guitars too(although I havent tried micing guitars with one though. Also, 414's seem to be a popular choice for both vocals and guitar as well.

I too, have a few MK012, and i've used one once for vocals and it sounded quite good actually, but you'd be better off spending some more money for a more quality microphone.

get a seperate vocal and guitar mic...

if u dont wanna do that the AKG 414s are good for both
although i prefer a small diaphram mic on an acoustic
but the 414 is still good

Gary,
All the acoustic samples on my site are from the 319's. Chris Cavell gave a heads up on these and I really love them. He told me once that he has access to a lot of high dollar mics, and always goes back to the 319's for some reason. I also use either a RODE NTK on vocals or a Neumann TLM-103. TLM is VERY bright and gives pretty much all details. The RODE is very warm, and smooth.... Both work very well, but one is alot more....

The 319's if setup correctly work very well....

What preamp are you using with them? That helps as well..

Good luck!

-Doc

AKG 414, a pair would be ideal, as I prefer to mic acoustics in stereo.

The Rode NTK ain't a bad choice either....got a pair of those as well....

I know that I'm gonna open myself up to some criticism here, but I recently bought 2 mics for $500 total (my only 2 besides a 57 and a 58, as I have a realy limited budget) So far between the 2 of these, I haven't found anything that I can't do... I got a Rode NT1000 and a TFPRO TF27(the guy that used to build Joemeek stuff). I've used the NT1000 on vocals with great results, and the TF on guitar amps and an acoustic (along with the NT) again with great results. Hell, I've used a direct line and a 58 on a nice acoustic with results good enough for a great quality demo.
It all depends on how you place your mics and what your pre is set at.

My drunken $0.02
