Default 11R Software Situation Starting to Piss Me Off

<rant>

Just tried to install the 11R CoreAudio drivers onto my Lion machine only to find that I can't launch GarageBand anymore after the install. App just bounces in the doc.

Yeah, they say only Leopard is supported. THAT IS TWO YEARS OLD. You going to support on Mac or not?

$500 to upgrade to PT10. I hear PT9 barely worked on Lion.

Where the ef is the standalone editor already? It's been the most highly voted upon feature in IdealStale (see what I did there) for over a year and a half.

Still stuck holding onto my laptop to run PT8, and install my expansion pack upgrade. Was told that my 11R wouldn't be locked to that computer, but planned obsolesce says otherwise.

Tons of posts here with old 11Rs with PT8 in the channel and poor consumers getting $600 penalty out of date PT8 and no expansion packs sent to them and being forced to argue with their dealers to return it.

PT9 bundles don't even install for users out of the box.

What in the heck is going on here?

Off to manually uninstall these crap drivers so I can make some music again.

This situation is seriously leading me to re-consider buying my next Avid product (along with my buggy Venom synth that hasn't had bug fixes in the 10 months I've owned it).

Whoops, look like I got lost in the maze that is Avid's website and downloaded and installed the wrong drivers.

GarageBand now working.

Still pissed about $500 PT10, standalone editor, IdeaStale, and my Venom.

That is all.

For what I'm doing, it's fine. I have several User Interface gripes, but hey, it's $400 and it sounds pretty killer.

The editor, which you have to have hooked up to do any real editing, is a resource hog and doesn't seem to save patches as reliably as I'm used to.

The general community is having way more issues than me:

http://forums.m-audio.com/forumdisplay.php?204-Venom

I'm mainly seeing, and commenting on, a "pump-and-dump" attitude for software support and the Venom situation freaks me out. Plenty of bugs discussed on that site.

... of course nothing to do with "All Things Guitar" (that's my fault not yours)
