Anyone using a version of PT < 9... While there are better interfaces out there I have managed to make a few decent recordings on both... There's a lot I like about my 003...

The price you are comparing INCLUDED the software. Keep that in mind when comparing...
And.. there have been numerous great recordings using M-boxes.

The m-boxes, particularly the new ones, integrate seamlessly with PT9, which just ain't the case with many of the other "better boxes".

Having said that... I love my DUET with PT9.. which was more expensive, and did not come with "logic"..

i still prefer the tight integration of the digi boxes. my 002 and PT9 are very stable.

The Mbox 2 is still pretty convenient. It fits in my backpack along with a small mic stand, a pair of Crown CM400s, and my notebook. Since both the Mbox and my audio drive are bus powered, I can set up a stereo recording of a live performance without having to plug into power. It is clean enough sounding, too.

I know there are other options out there, but considering the Mbox 2 really was not that expensive. I bought the Mbox 2 Factory in 2006 with a Pro Tools LE 7.x amnesty for $500. Not too shabby; interface, software, an iLok and some plug-ins.
