Default XPAND! Crashing Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 On My Macbook! HELP!

Hi there,

This is my first time on this forum so excuse any mistakes on etiquette.

I am running Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 on my Intel Macbook 2.0 Ghz with 1MB RAM. Operating system 10.4.11 with an Mbox 2.

I have had no problems with this setup until today.

If I try to use the 'Xpand!' plug in my Pro Tools application immediately shuts down with the 'Unexpectedly Quit' message.

I have tried the following with no luck.

Removing and reinstalling xpand.
Attempting to open xpand with a brand new empty session.
Removing and reinstalling Pro Tools.
Removing all Pro Tools preferences and restarting.
Running the location finder for the Xpand.dat file in the correct location.
Installing the osx 10.4.11 COMBO update.

My xpand has worked perfectly in the past and my last thought is that perhaps there could be a clash with the osx 10.4.11.
My Macbook came with version 10.4.8 which I was advised today was the most reliable os for Pro Tools.
I am very nervous of the idea of a clean install as I do not want to lose anything or cause more conflict with apps.
I have seen this option for an "archive and install' and am wondering whether this is a potential solution or whether anybody has any other suggestions.
I would also like to know what I will lose with an 'Archive Install'??

Will I lose emails, applications like Photoshop, reason etc??

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

ps. it should also be noted that on playing back a session with an Xpand Midi track already layed down that the audio triggered from the midi track seems to play fine. If I go into the track and try and click expand to open the controller window though the same crash happens.
