Forget that link.

You need to login. Go to Product Details And Download Links and get this file.

Pro Tools 2018.12 Read Me (Mac) 168 KB

Plenty more in there!

So, they've ignored the real problem and instead of providing a fix (changing the iZotope Radius settings back to what they where when Elastic Audio was first released), simply provide tips (not fixes...TIPS) on how to deal with bugs?

Considering how long ago I started this thread: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=273219

And that Jeffro assured me he escalated this issue years ago, it's not looking good for our friend Elastic Audio...

I'm glad of the tips for sure. Of course, I too would prefer fixes

I think how fundamental Elastic Audio is to many modern workflows I'm hopeful for fixes and upgrades in the future.

Until then I'd better study the caveats.

Agreed.

I really do not understand why this isn’t fixed.

The workarounds listed in that document, which btw is astoundingly long, may or may not fix that transient smearing in X-Form. Personally, I don’t think it will.

Also, when they state ‘clear elastic audio settings when switching algorithms’ do they actually mean revert the track back to its initial state before you applied any stretching? If so, that has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Who in their right mind is going to remove all the warping they did to sections of a track to try a different algorithm?

That’s nuts!

Yeah I wondered the same. I certainly don't want to spend a bunch of time on warp markers to have to do it all again

Would be nice to know definitively as I'm using EA a lot as I guess many others are.

I've heard the loss of phase coherency in the past so will be listening closely

Elastic Audio
Maintaining phase coherency with Elastic Audio pitch processing (PTSW-20602)

When there is Elastic Audio Pitch processing enabled on a track, switching from Polyphonic, Rhythmic, or X-Form to Monophonic or Varispeed can disrupt phase coherency. To preserve phase coherency in this case, be sure to clear all Elastic Audio Pitch processing from the track before switching to the Monophonic or Varispeed algorithm.
So anyone any wiser concerning this?

I'm just working on a track. Approximately 250 warp markers added by hand. I want to switch warp mode

Disabling Elastic Audio deletes all the markers right?

Stephen

If you aren't using elastic pitch, what's the problem with changing algos?
