11R EXRP does not leave firmware updater on desktop

When installing the Eleven Rack expansion pack I don't believe I was ever prompted for my S/N when running the EXRP installer. Nor does install leave the firmware updater on desktop.

Is there away to back out the previous install so my mac appears be seeing the EXRP for the first time and hopefully prompt for s/n then?

I apologize if this is already covered elsewhere, I did not find this exact problem when searching.

First you need to be certain that you actually need the Firmware updater.

What Firmware version is currently on your Eleven Rack?

If you already have 2.0.x, then your Eleven Rack unit is already updated and all you need to do is run the first section of the ERXP.

If you do not have version 2.0.x and you purchased the ERXP from the Avid site or other store, the first thing you need to do is download the installer from your account - im guessing you have already done this.

Then make sure Pro Tools is updated to the latest version for what ever flavor you have (LE8, 9 or 10)

Then be sure to follow ALL directions. Internet needs to be ON. PT must be closed. 11R needs to be powered ON and connected via USB directly to the computer. Drivers must be installed.

The first part that you run is what installs the UI files and then places the Firmware updater on your desktop. Keep in mind, if you changed things in your directory, then the ERXP may be placing the Firmware updater elsewhere on your hard drive. You can search your files system if you have changed the default paths. Search for 'Eleven Rack' or 'Eleven Rack Expansion Pack'

Benoni - thanks for the reply! I did follow the steps you outlined but the firmware update shortcut on the desktop never appeared. I called Sweetwater who I bought the 11R expansion pack from, they sent me the updater file. when trying to update firmware I was prompted for activation codes but the the system said the codes were not valid. I called Avid support and they sent me this link that provided step to correct the issue.

I hope others in this situation find this link to short circuit troubleshooting.

You may want to check your link, the one you posted is just a link to this thread.

If were to guess, you probably changed some of the default directories on your Mac and the firmware updater was getting placed somewhere else.

If that is, or is not the case, I would very much like to see what link Avid referred you to.
