Default Show shortcuts directly?

Hi,
I'm new to Pro Tools and looking for the fastest way to lern those shortcuts. In other DAWs (Ableton, Logic) there are small "hint"-icons/windows showing the shortcuts just by dragging the mouse above the different knobs and parameters. In Pro Tools it's just showing the name of the parameter. I couldn't find something similar in Pro Tools yet, just the Key Command window where I then have to search for what I need...
Let me know if sb knows sth, would really appreciate!
Samuel

Doesn’t exist.
Only the top menu options show you the shortcut keys written next to them. All others have to be found in the keyboard shortcut guide under the Help menu. And even that doesn’t list all of them.

I think this is why ProTools “keyboards” became so popular.

This is a bit old but still applies to most KB shortcuts.

I recommend reading the official Pro Tools Shortcuts Guide, but WHEN you want to do something especially, not in general start to finish.

However, one of the primary barriers in the Shortcuts Guide for new users is simply the huge vocabulary of Pro Tools operations and behaviour.

For example, do you know what "edit insertion" or "timeline and edit selection" or "snap" or "grabber" means, like exactly? Also, what is your general knowledge of editing, mixing, digital audio, etc?

Until or unless you get some of this vocabulary lodged into the extra brain you have lying around (hopefully), there will be a certain opacity to looking up shortcuts.

Once you get more of the vocabulary, actually looking at some of the "nearby" shortcuts in the Shortcuts Guide in the related section as the shortcut you were looking for, I think you might go.... "Ahhh, that's going to be useful when I can remember it!"

And then, you go back to the shortcuts guide now and again, depending on task, and orient the posture in the right angle, then the muscle memory can ingrain then take over as needed. I often have to do a lil refresher of some shortcuts, and then my workflow resumes until I'm in another area.

SIMPLY remembering everything permanently or learning all shortcuts in isolation from muscle memory and actual relevant work.... not so relevant I think! There are plenty I have never needed and don't know anything about.
