Default Audio Suite effects on Prior Plugins

Here's a quick question I can't seem to find an answer to ... if you have a few plugins on a track, and you run an audio suite plugin on the track, does it bake in the processing from the previous plugins on the channel???

For Example, if I have an EQ, a Clipper, then run the Audio Suite for a Gate on that track, will the new audio file have the EQ and Clipper baked into the waveform???

Can't seem to find and answer to this anywhere. I'm just wondering if it works like a Freeze or Commit or Consolidate would on the track.

No. The clip will only have the gate processing baked in. The rest of the plugins will still be running as inserts on the track. You could test this by doing your gate in audiosuite and then moving the clip to a track with no plugin inserts. You should hear the difference.

^^ right, remember the inputs to Audiosuite are the actual clips.

And while inserts are all after AS processing, Clip gain and Clip effects are not and are "baked in" to any AS processing (which can lead to tears at times when folks want to undo clip gain or effects).

[post removed] < This is glaringly wrong. And sounds like a ChatGPT bot. Moderators notified for this nonsense.
AudioSuite will bake in clip effects because it processes clips. Not track effects. Track plugins are separate and not part of the equation.
(It does NOT "works similarly to a freeze or commit function")

^ well it kind of does, in a sense that AS creates a new clip just as commiting.

Otherwise this is like PT 101 and ancient history. Back in the day all we had was destructive processing (audiosuite) before it was available non-destructively (realtime audiosuite) which didn't create new clips but instead allowed hearing the results of processing during playback.

That isn't the basis for Pro Tools "committing" a track.
Consolidate also creates a new clip -- I don't think you'd say that about that also.
Committing and freezing a track both came way, way after AudioSuite. Creating a clip is the end of their similarities to AudioSuite.
(now, on the other hand, committing and freezing have similarities to each other)

Yes, commit/freeze were introduced in PT12. They still create new clips. Also true, Consolidate is closer to AS because they are only working on clips, not caring about any possible plugins on tracks.
