Default Avid Support - Where are we headed with this?

Here's the description for the Standard plan for LE interfaces:

Quote:
Avid Standard Support

A support plan for low-complexity environments, Avid Standard Support is designed for customers for whom system availability is not mission critical, yet providing business hours support and access to software updates is key:
5 x 9 assisted support
7 x 24 access to online knowledge base and product forums
Software updates and patches
Optional: Access to scheduled onsite support – 7 business days (fees apply)1

Buy Now
The part about 'Software updates and patches' needs to be clarified. Will there now be charges for cs updates if you don't have the plan? Will release upgrades/updates (i.e. 8.0 to 8.1) be included in the annual fee rather than the nominal charge in the past? Will version upgrades be included (i.e. V8 to V9)?

This also suggests that access to the FAQ and DUC might only be included with the support plan. Though these could have been included in the description to make the plan sound sweeter.

Here's the support plan page:

They include the details of free support in the description but I understand the only thing you need to pay for is business hours telephone support extending beyond your warranty period. This is pretty much how it has been for years.
