you can split a room 9 and 10 by ether splitting the system drive or installing a second one
play with 10 when you can and use 9 when you need to

I've been doing this for a while. I have an extra drive with all my applications installed that I use to test new OSes and Pro Tools versions before I bring them onto my main computer drive. If things start getting rocky, I just reboot into the stable system and keep going. I totally recommend it.
