Default Mbox 3 Mini "hardware not connected"?

Hi, I'm running:

Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1
Intel Pentium CPU g640 @ 2.70GHz
4.00 GB RAM
64-bit OS

For some reason, after installing the Mbox drivers, the control panel for Mbox says "Hardware Not Connected." The speakers work just fine going through the Mbox, but it's not being recognized as connected, which means I can't use ASIO, which means I can't record with it, etc.

The strange part is it used to work just fine on another PC running Windows 7 also.

I've tried reinstalling, using different USB cables, running the installation as administrator, in compatibility with XP, etc. Tried switching to different USB ports. No matter what, in the Mbox control panel, it tells me the hardware is not connected. my recording software says the same.

Thanks in advance for any help.

No one knows anything? The Mbox will make a nice paperweight I suppose.

Not enough info for anyone to help. Hit this link:Help us Help You - READ THIS Before Posting! and have a good read. Then post a Sandra report and include the exact version of Pro Tools you have.

I don't have Pro Tools. I opted for just the hardware. Either way, it's not being recognized by my computer.

i have the same problem. the drivers don't seem to work. Have downloaded 6 or 7 different versions. The Mac doesnt find the mbox mini and says same 'hardware not detected. Is this down to installing protools first?? Have you managed to sort it?

This is specifically concerning the hardware rather than any Pro Tools version (I purchased an Mbox that was not packaged with Pro Tools).

Basically, the Mbox control panel shows that the hardware is not connected (in the bottom left corner) :

However, the Mbox has M-Audio AV40 monitor speakers plugged into it, which do work (as in they're playing any audio coming from my computer). Why, then, does it say the hardware isn't connected (as well, it won't show up as an ASIO device in REAPER or any recording software I use.

Again, this is an Avid Mbox 3 Mini. It's connected to a DELL through a USB port on the back. I believe there are six USB ports on this beast. Only four of them are occupied, if that's any help. They're arranged like

1 2
3 4
5 6

The Mbox is connected to number one, 2 is unused, 3 is unused, 4 is a wireless USB device, 5 is my keyboard and 6 is the mouse. I'm not sure how much of this information is necessary, but I'd rather give too much than not enough. I believe the USB cable running between the PC and Mbox is a monster cable.

I've tried switching to all the different USB ports, including having nothing but the Mbox plugged in. I've tried reinstalling Windows, different PCs, reinstalling the Mbox drivers several times (I tried restarting after installing drivers, unplugging the Mbox, then plugging it back in), tried installing older drivers, etc).

Thank you in advance for any help. Let me know if I left out any other necessary info.

So, is there some way to actually contact Avid without having to pay them more money for a thing I already bought?

there's some kind of confusion as the image shows the control panel of MBox 3 instead of MBox Mini.

CP for MBox Mini has absolutely different UI:

If your device is MBox Mini then install proper driver from here: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nload/en374271

My mBox quit working randomly after I installed a set of Waves plug-ins. I updated the drivers for everything multiple times and went through many of the frustrations I've seen in this forum only too keep getting the unrecognized error.

The Solution for me: Use a powered USB hub to connect to mBox 3.

Something like this one. I picked one up at my local memory express for $15.

Hope that helps.
