HELP: Want to install Pro Tools KeyStudio to a different partition...
I have my HD Partitioned into 2 parts - one is Windows & OS Related (C:) and the other is for Software Progs & File/s (D:). The idea here is in the event of a crash and having to reinstall win - I'll 'should' still have my progs & files on safely on partition D.
However, when I went to install the KeyStudio Drivers & Software they ALL defaulted to the C drive (I couldn't find any way to change the path???). I'd really like to install PT KS onto Partition D... just to play safe. And... my drives - C/D are partitioned at about 20%/80% in size. (I'm going to need as much HD space as possible - right?) Is there any way around this as there 'appears' to be NO option/way (that I can find at least) to change the destination drive/partition where KeyStudio is to be installed on??? I'd really appreciate and be grateful for any help and advice. Thanks in advance, Max. |

Re: HELP: Want to install Pro Tools KeyStudio to a different partition...
PT and all its variants HD, SE, LE, MP should be installed to C/Programs
There's probably no way around that as I'm sure they tried to streamline and idiot proof the installer as much as they could. You might try moving the Keystudio program file by dragging it while holding down the shift key. This should move the file and update any links or paths that point to it. Frankly I would leave it in its default folder.

Re: HELP: Want to install Pro Tools KeyStudio to a different partition...
Thanks guys - that's sealed it for me!!! I'll keep it on the C: drive and if needed, I can simply increase the size of that partition.
I've just one more question (if you don't mind?) - Would it be okay to set the 'preferences' to save my work and any add-ons, etc., to the other partition??? My main concern was just in the event of a system crash which would mean 'having' to reinstall Win XP on the C: drive/partition - thereby writing over and erasing everything on that partition (C:). Such as... A). Any/all of my Pro Tools KeyStudio work - which probably would have included - ALL of my other settings, tweaks and 'add-ons' (virtual & soft synths, plug-ins, samples & loops, etc.). And... B). ALL of my individual files - such as songs & tracks that I may be currently working on (which is usually several at a time, TBH). So just before I go ahead and do that - would doing A). & B). above be okay? ... Or or not??? (As long as the actual 'Pro Tools' program is installed on the C:/Root drive?) Cheers, Max. (Newbie) PS: Again, any and all advice is very much appreciated. |
