Batch rename file types?
A client just sent me a harddrive with his PT sessions. They were recorded on a digi001 system with OS9. The drive is an iomega USB2 drive. When I mount the drive and look at the contents on a computer with OS10.3.9, all PT session files, audio files, and fade files show up as "Unix Executable Files".
I am able to add the file extension to each file name and then everything is fine, but I don't want to do that for each of the 1000+ files. Do any of you know a way to add the file type extension to many files at once? Also, have any of you encountered this before or know what caused this to happen? Thanks. |

Re: Batch rename file types?
I agree with the above post. BetterFinderRename is used in our facility all the time before transferring files to our WIndows based backup server. With one keystroke, the necessary extension can be added to ALL files or shift-click selected ones.
This happened because the file extensions weren't necessary in OS9, but OSX doesn't know what the file is without it! THIS WILL WORK!

Re: Batch rename file types?
Thanks for the quick responses. That is a great little application.
Unfortunately, now that I have added the extensions, OSX recognizes the files, but PT is not able to link the files to the original PT session. Any tricks for this one? Thanks again. |

Quote:
i would dismount the drive they cam from. launch the session. when it asks about relinking, chose manual. then go into the relink wind, deslect any drives that files are not on. in fact, go to the folder and point PT there. then hit search by name & id. if that doesn't work, try the other options.
