They are 64 on 2 different inputs. Do you not understand how a matrix works?
A crosspoint system is limited because of that.
When you selected how to map inputs to outputs, did you not have to switch to 2 different blocks?

Do the (simple) math. Add 128 inputs to both inputs and outputs. Then calculate the number of possible connections (crosspoints). All possible.
Now do it with adding only 64 in and out. It's not a linear increase between those two. Those all take up resources on a chip that wasn't built for that (because the Studio wasn't built as a modular unit.)

Relax. It’s capable of 128 I/o. it maybe limited as to what protools accepts but I believe that limitation is artificial. As for you condescending remarks, find someone else to argue with online. I’m not the one.

ie. It's not artificial at all.
The whole unit was meant for a limited fixed set of channels to address. None greater than 64 (Dante/Digilink/and DA or AD less than that at 32ish). The FPGA chip would have to be replaced.

The FPGA cross matrix in the MTRX Studio is 512x512 channels... not 64.

Unless Avid are lying about the 512x512 matrix in the first place, there is really no reason why a 128 channel TB3 card wouldn't be possible. 64 digilink + 64 dante + 64 TB3 + 16 Adat + 16 analog equals only 224x224.

No. It was mentioned earlier. Just governmental certification (for the different governments/regions that have electronics certification.) It's shipping now but has a backlog of orders.
