Default New Comp Virus From PT???

I got rid of my old laptop cos I was getting problems with PT and getting "occured violation" thus not being able to run PT...but with my new comp it seems im getting the same thing???
Im running Sonaliksis bundle...Waves Murcury..Drumagog and thats all the plug ins I have installed so far...it seems there is a virus and as the exact same thing happened on my computer until I started to use PT???
Any help would be great...

If you mean "access violation" the #1 cause is poorly cracked plug-ins. You did pay for those plugs, right?

You don't have to have cracked plugins, 3J, to get the Access Violation. I have no cracked plugins, period, and I got an Access Vioation yesterday on a session that I was touching up from a month ago. I hadn't got an Access Violation in months, but I got one yesterday.

The only thing that is different on my system and the session that threw the Access Viloation was that I updated the Waves RenMaxx bundle from 6.0.0 to 6.0.6 and that session uses some Waves Plugins.

Look, I don't even want to imply that the problem might be the Waves Plugs because I don't know. Was it when 7.4 (I don't recall for sure) was released everyone was getting Access Violations. Seems the problem then was related to outdated plugins.

Sadly, anything that you download can be infected so it is wise to always scan downloaded files with at least 2 programs. I just started using one called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (free) and it found stuff on my protools computer (which does not connect to the internet). So now I scan every download with that and Avast before I install it. Hope you get it sorted out.

The Waves plugins are the most likely culprit (and for that much money, you really should take it up with Waves tech support). As Greg_M has already mentioned, they have been proven in the past (and currently, apparently) to cause these errors if you don't have the exact proper numeric version of the plugins for a specific numeric version of Pro Tools.

finman29, if you could please;
  • Download the TechSupport Utility
  • Install it.
  • Run it.
  • Select "Generate List".
  • Find the "Pro Tools Version List.txt" file on your desktop.
  • Open it.
  • Paste the contents here.
That will allow us to eliminate possible and potential problems with the plugins that you have installed.
