Default Case Fan

Hey guys I just put one of These babies in the front of my rack mount case and I can't believe how quiet it is. I have a Zalman 7700cpu fan that I previously couldn't even hear. Now it's all I can hear. I could not tell the difference in noise when I turned the knob on my speed controller. This thing is super quiet. . Very happy!

22.8dBA! SilenX claim a noise level as low as 9dBA for an 80mm case fan.

Happy for you. I'm still dealing with a HELLA noisy power supply fan. Thinking of getting one of those FANLESS power supplies. What do you guys think? Just realized its only my power supply and cpu fan making all that noise. I have a zalman cpu cooler and fan and its pretty quiet.

The problem with a fanless power supply is the fact that they help extract heat from the case and they're also very expensive. Depending on your system (I wouldn't recommend it for say a C stepping Prescott P4) it might be an option to go with a fanless design. I don't know what climate you live in or where you have your case situated. SilenX do <14dBA (iXtrema) PSU's and also a fanless design (Luxurae).

I have all SilenX fans in my DAW and they are VERY VERY quiet. Here's a good source to get them from 3D Cool

I'm a big fan with the Zalman fans, i have 10 of them in my case and they are really quiet at 1500 rpm. I almoust always put my daw in da same room where the mics are and it never get picked up by any. I also did ad some foam to my case to reduce the hdd noise.

Well right now I'm still running just a 1 gig Athlon and it runs smooth. it runs smoother than my roomates 2.4gig p4. So i dont think a fanless power supply will be a problem. And ill probably just leave the case open since i will now only have my pretty quiet zalman flower cooler/fan running. Oh and gotta figure out if my HD makes noise. I cant tell right now cuz my PSU Fan is making all the noise.

What do you guys think of this Cpu cooler. Scythe Heatlane Zen NCU-1000 fanless CPU cooler. its crazy looking but fanless. Can you imagine the silence?

I Have the Aspire ATX case that Allen recomends and I dissconnected the two 80mm fans put a silentmax 120mm fan at the rear Added the Zalman 7000b cu, and Enermax 350W quite PSU, and some silicone feet and my machine is now just as quite as my P3 996. Night and day difference...well worth the extra cash. Check quitepcusa.com , They have the Zalman fans for cheaper than anywhere I could find, 34.95 for the pure copper one!
