Audio To MIDI converter
I would like to use audio drum tracks to generate MIDI notes in a MIDI track.
It seems like a simple expedient, but I have been unable to locate the appropriate software. If you know of any software that would accomplish this, please let me know. |

Re: Audio To MIDI converter
I don't know of any software that does this the way you want to. But, you can track the drums. then use strip silence to clean up a given drum track, then there are a few sound sample replacement software packages out there that can take your recorded kick for example and replace it with a sampled kick. You could also send the cleaned up original drum track to an external MIDI trigger to fire off a midi drum. I'm not sure thats what your looking for though.
cheers geo

Re: Audio To MIDI converter
John,
Drumagog, by Wavemachine Labs, offers just what you’re looking for. While I own and use Drumagog, I haven’t needed its MIDI facilities — but I seem to remember some DUC members reporting problems with that aspect of the software. Then again, seeing how responsive Drumagog designer & programmer Rim Buntinas is when it comes to tackling issues, I wouldn’t be surprised if those issues had been licked. If you’re after the substitution of recorded drum sounds, then Drumagog achieves that all by itself in spectacular fashion, and without the need for MIDI. If your needs are of a different nature, download the demo and see if if it fits the bill. IHTH.

Re: Audio To MIDI converter
I remember reading on the DUC about a program I believe was called "Intelliscore" (or something very similar). It was an audio-to-MIDI converter.

Re: Audio To MIDI converter
I seem to remember someone saying that the midi out facility on drumagog did not work on the Mac.
You can always group a midi track under the audio track and use tab to transient to paste midi notes in line with the drum hit.

Re: Audio To MIDI converter
Melodyne Studio does what you want.
Works well. Check out their video at celemony.com and trip out. No, I don't work for them.
