Dear sound to picture people

I spend a lot of time online answering video/sync type questions, trying to help people.

I am starting to release a series of useful short educational videos on Source Elements YouTube channel under the ”Source Bites: Understanding Video and Audio Video Sync” moniker.
It will take a while to finish the series ( so please be patient, but I am a few in. It will guide you through some useful knowledge in small easy to to digest chunks.
I hope these may be of some use and fill in some knowledge gaps here and there.

Would be a good chance to explain the confusing PAL/NTSC option when video ref format is set to 1080p24 in the session setup window.
When set to 1080p25 the option is fixed to PAL (and greyed out) but under 1080p24 it can be switched between PAL and NTSC. PT manual says that menu is disregarded when set to HD trilevel video ref formats which would make sense to me as 24P is neither NTSC nor PAL.
But I wonder how that relates to the fixed and variable options. When you switch between then you can see the SYNC HD actually lose lock and speed cal LEDs which then shortly come back after a second. So there is *something* going on. Would be great to get some clarification on what that does.
