2022.6 Template with saved media crashing Pro Tools.
This afternoon I created a new template (with media), as I've done many times before, yet suddenly when I tried to use it, the audio files don't link and Pro Tools gives me the beach ball of death, locking up until I force quit.
I trashed my prefs and had the same result. I then tried to use another template - that I know has worked in the past, created in June - and had the same issue. I then tried a template I'd created over a year ago, and that worked fine. After this I thought I'd try the more recent ones that hadn't worked with no success. I even left it trying to link for over half an hour, but came back to find the beach ball. This is the first time I've tried to use templates since updating to 2022.6 Running M1 Mac Mini, 16bg ram, Monterey, PT 2022.6 Audio files are all present and in the same folder as the pxtx file. I also dialed in remotely to a second machine, and the new template worked fine on that machine (not updated to 2022.6). Maybe a unique problem, but has anyone had a similar experience or ideas of what to try next? |

Re: 2022.6 Template with saved media crashing Pro Tools.
You will need to dig deeper to solve this. Can you create from a template that has no media? Try creating a new template session and import the media(creating a new version of the old template).

Yep, sorry should have mentioned, I can create from templates with no media.
I can drag the media in, but as I work for a lot of regular clients having the media assets already placed in the session is a real time saver. Just odd that it was working fine and suddenly are acting like they're corrupted. |

If it's only on your computer I would suspect other stuff like plugins that happen to interact with these sessions. So you likely just have to run though that troubleshooting.

Any luck with this? We just came across the same issue in our mix room, running PT Ultimate 2022.6

I'm also having this issue. I especially notice this crash happen when I am importing a clip that was created in a project with a different sample rate than the one I am importing to.

Re: 2022.6 Template with saved media crashing Pro Tools.
Ditto to OP.
Using 2022.6 on 13in 2020 Intel MBP running macOS 12.5 Templates with plugins seem to be absolutely fine and the crash happens when there's media associated with the template. The only workaround I've got is to import session data but obviously not the ideal scenario when this wasn't an issue in the last version of PT. Hopefully Avid can address this quickly 🙃 |

Re: 2022.6 Template with saved media crashing Pro Tools.
In media bin or clips in templates have got region groups?
In this case happened to me, ungroup/consolidate and resave template. Let's see if it works. best

Re: 2022.6 Template with saved media crashing Pro Tools.
Same issue for me. I use saved media templates like crazy. Only work around I know of is to create a brand new blank session, name the project as you would with the template, and import session data from a similar project.
In my case, I edit podcasts and I just import the previous episode's project. Also, I'm sure you can import the session template from the folder itself but I've never needed to. |

This is active on another thread. Apparently Avid has been aware of this for several weeks.
