Can only certain automation points be selected together?

Scenario: you place points in your automation line, let's say some are toward the top of the lane, others are at the bottom, e.g. left, right panning, or high volume, low volume. In other DAWs you can marquee select just the bottom points to move them. or just a couple points, or just the top points, etc.

I can't see how to choose only the points I want in PT. If I do a select, it sweeps across the entire lane and I can't pick or differentiate between the top points and the bottom points, since the selection is entirely vertical which includes the entire lane top to bottom. I figure there must be some trick or tool that I'm unaware of because it's a common way of selecting. Thanks!

I don't think so. PT has inherited its automation-point design from the early 90s. It would probably require a very deep rewrite of the software to get past that limitation. You're right that it's quite behind some other DAWs in this respect. It's one of the things I miss most from Reaper.

Tiny fixes or edits to those automation dots is painful for me almost every time...
