Level knob doesn\'t work on 1814?
Once I start PT I can no longer use the level knob. I thought I saw something about this a little while ago but could not find anything in the searching.

Re: Level knob doesn\'t work on 1814?
So has no one noticed this or do I just need to adjust my workflow? I had been using an MOTU 828mkII and it had a dedicated knob for the "Main Outs" I was hoping that the level knob would be analogous to this... and it is, sometimes.

I have the same problem!
But only if PT is running! If i try it with the mediaplayer on it works... |

I've had it stop while just listening with iTunes as well.

Re: Level knob doesn\'t work on 1814?
after you start pro tools, check the assignment of the level knob in the m-powered control panel. Go to the 'outputs' tab and make sure the two are assigned to work together.
i had a motu 896 and i gotta say, the knob was WAY smoother for volume adjustment. It's kind of lame that the 1814 level control is stepped. Boo. an additional note: the 1814 is extremely versatile as far as routing and assigning controls, much more so than the 896...this makes it a lot more complicated sometimes, though... i had a simmilar problem in which my level knob was controlling the wrong level meter in the m-audio control panel. hope any of this is helpful. |

Re: Level knob doesn\'t work on 1814?
I did check the assignment and it's still for the Analog 1-2 outs. Actually in the M-Audio software I can turn the knob and it sometimes works. Grabbing the fader in the software always works. This is looking like a driver/control panel issue.
I really like having a real knob for the final output in case I need to kill the output quickly (feedback loop, jacked up audio engine spitting out noise, etc... |

Re: Level knob doesn\'t work on 1814?
my last resort would be to disconnect the unit, uninstall the drivers, re-install the latest drivers from the M-Audio website, connect the unit and power it on, let the install wizard use the boot-record downloaded w/ the drivers, (do not insert your copy of the driver cd).

I did just install this last week and the driver CD never even got near my computer I also did it on a completely fresh install and after upgrading to SP2.

Re: Level knob doesn\'t work on 1814?
Just wanted to bump this up. I've had a support ticket in with M-Audio for a while now. They have seen the issue but haven't fixed it yet. This only happens in Pro Tool though so there is some odd interaction there.

Re: Level knob doesn\'t work on 1814?
Mine does the same thing. It is a pain, that's for sure. I will be getting some sort of monitoring matrix soon anyway, because even if it does work I don't want a software knob controlling my volume, I want an actual pot that passes audio. But the xp drivers are atrocious for the 1814, they are aware of it, but as of yet the latest driver is still Oct. 2005. Support was very helpful when I was going through issues in the beginning, but the problems were never actually solved.
