Default Anyone have tried the new Basehead?

Hi,

Anyone have tried the new version os Basehead

http://www.baseheadinc.com/#basehead-overview

I've been trying the trial and all I can say is UUAAAU!!

What a great app for Post production.
And the price is more than fair for the ultra edition.

Check it out.

ps: I don't have anything to do with Basehead I'm just a normal user.

Happy Holidays and Regards,

Just bought Ultra a few days ago. Great alternative to Soundminer at an awesome price.

A few key commands to get used to, but enjoying the purchase thus far, especially going from using the finder spotlight search to find SFX

Here is some nice review from Jonah Guelzo that was published by Pro tools expert.

No limitations, it's a full trial for xx days (I can't remember how much days)

This is what is says in the installer.

A Demo version is included in this installer if you are looking to evaluate it first and has ZERO restrictions.

looks interesting, just watched Jonah's video... Two questions:
- how do you transfer library files / meta data from SM if possible at all?
- does it use rewire or how do I listen to sounds through PT? can this be 5.1/7.1?

cheers
M

If you can export non-encrypted iXML from SM It will be possible in 4.5 version

"Can I Export or Import Text file for and from BaseHead?
We plan on this no later then version 4.5 but will probably come sooner then that, but since our database is non-encrypted you can open it in any SQLite editor now and edit it that and Export a text file from program.
Here is a great free one http://sqlitebrowser.org/"

I think is this you were looking for, I could be wrong.

"Why when Pro Tools HD is open I can't hear BaseHead anymore?
It's cuz PT HD can't share hardware with any other program.
You'll need to route BH out your internal sound card and into a mixer or SPDIF out to SPDIF in on your PT hardware and open up an input track to hear BH.
PT HD is the only program in the world that doesn't release it's audio driver in the background. Yell at Avid for us...8)

Some solutions...
Use ReWire inside BaseHead 4.x Ultra Edition
If you are using BaseHead Mac - then try Source Nexus to route audio into PT until 4.x Ultra is released.

This is what I've found.
"5.1 files play like they are meant to be heard (out separate 6 speakers)"

I can confirm this.

I've created a 7.1 file but only 6 files were recognised.

Try the trial its as not limitations, I think you can use for 14 days full ultra edition.

Regards,

Basehead is great software. The guy who makes it, Steve Tushar, is a working sfx editor for film. He's very responsive to bugs and new features.

(Disclaimer: He and I were also roommates years ago, BUT I still paid for my copy because it's worth it)
