Default iZotope Alloy 2 on sale - $90

Thought this was a good enough deal to warrant a post. $99 from iZotope directly, $90.39 from our favorite online retailer.

Alloy is a iZotope's do-anything channel strip. RTAS, AudioSuite, 64-bit AAX, VST, VST3, Audio Unit, DirectX.

It's voice-activated. But you have to be pretty loud.

How about the eq's? Are the multiple type choices really working as one would expect or are they just gimmicks?

Some of the differences are subtle, and I tend to use certain ones more than others. Some of them I just can't get my head around (like the Bandaxall).

But the thing I like about the EQ the most is the sound quality. Transparent and musical. It tends to preserve nuances more than just about anything else I've heard. A lot of people rave about Fabfilter EQ. It does sound good, but to me I felt like I already have that sound in Alloy.

Not only that, but the De-Esser is excellent, and so is the compressor and gate. I have not messed with the other stuff much (transient designer, exciter, limiter), but the quality seems to be good on those as well.

For $90, I don't see how anyone could refuse.

Thanks for the post. I had access to iZotope eq in my old Soundforge and for some things it was magic and I wondered if that magic was still there. Sounds like it (). The Baxandall is supposed to be what the tone controls in those old stereos of yore were (you know like in the old Fisher, Dynaco and Pioneer units).

Well I decided to go for it; now I just have to wait until Monday or so for AD to get me my serial number. Question: has anybody tried the iLok registration for their Izotope plugins or did you go the authorization to the computer route? I'm thinking I might go the iLok route.
