Has anyone tried NVIDIA 10 series card?
I've been experiencing the jerky behavior in timeline with new 12HD/Native/Artist Mix combo. Talked to "support" who thought the problem would be fixed with 12.8 Or, it could be helped with a newer video card.
Nvidia has released a new mac compatible driver that should allow me to use a GTX 4gb 1050 with the drawback of not having a boot screen. Has anyone tried a 10 series nvidia video card? Re: Has anyone tried NVIDIA 10 series card?
GTX 1080 8GB (Best power choice) MacVideoCards flashed (A bit pricy but done right).
4K primary but in Pro Tools I run 1440P (AOC 30") (too fine for computing but in film it looks great. BTW HD12.8 did improve multi monitors (Displays) with this card. Changed from Radeon 7950 Mac edition.. Almost no errors in Sierra it is a bit noisier 8 pin power draws from both Mac PCIe sources. (I have the same splice for the HDX card so install was seamless.

Re: Has anyone tried NVIDIA 10 series card?
FYI if you are interested in AMD cards Apples next update 10.12.8 will support the newest cards like the RX 580s which is great news if you also do video editing in FCPX like I do, you can run them now but you have to do a kext edit to get them working. But the next OS update you won't have to as it will have native driver support. Could be a good sign for the next mac pro in 2018 as Apple seems to be sticking with AMD.
I have a flashed 980ti and its working great with pro tools just have to update the driver every time you update the OS but they have been good about getting Apple drivers out lately. You can pick those up on eBay pretty cheap compared to a year ago but the 980ti needs two power feeds but it is not as fast as AMD cards with FCPX. The new 1080 and 1070 only need one power feed. 1080ti needs two and can still draw too much power when stressed. My 980ti and 12 core 3.33 mac pro has never had an over heat related shutdown I would only switch to AMD once 10.12.5 come out as I am starting to do a lot more editing and would not mind the speed bump. Could install two of those babies possibly.

Re: Has anyone tried NVIDIA 10 series card?
Yes, with PT 12, you should get rid of that GT120 graphics card. You don't need anything super high end. Even a ATI 5770 1GB should solve the issue. If you want to play it safe, go for a GTX 680.
