Importing Video file with TimeCode
I want to import a video file inside a Pro Tools session but make sure the video starts at the correct Time Code. I thought that by using Spot it should read the original Time Code of the video file but it doesn't.
The video file was created with Atomos Shogun 7 recorder and has a DNxHD 36 codec. The Pro Tools session and the video file have matching frame rates (25fps). I have checked on Media Composer the video file and have validated that the video file indeed has a start Timecode. Can Pro Tools read the start of that video file in someway? |

Re: Importing Video file with TimeCode
Yes this is a good workaround.
But imagine in my case I have a live show with around 20 video files. I have to note down 20 time codes. It would be AWESOME to be able to automate this process! So I guess this is not possible at the moment. I wish they could implement this function in the future. |

Re: Importing Video file with TimeCode
It would probably be a good idea to get the videos with timecode burn-in. That way you can verify not just the start timecode location, but also be sure that everything is staying in sync and there is no drift throughout the show.

Re: Importing Video file with TimeCode
You could export an AAF linked to the video files from MC. This will have the clips placed at the correct tc.
