Under the window menu select "automation" and make sure the pan is highlighted.

what if you show the Pan Automation overview for the track?
is the automation written?
what happens if you draw some pan action in?
is Automation Suspend checked in the Automation window?

Just curious, why is your input choice 1 AND 2? A vocal is usually recorded to a MONO track.

If the actual input on your track says 1 & 2, then you are recording to a stereo track, whether you realize it or not (output should usually say 1 & 2).

When you go under track menu to create a new track, make sure you select mono.

Assuming this is the problem, and if you don't want to redo your vocal, go under the track menu and choose split into mono. After you do this, select one of the tracks and delete it. Now you have a mono track.

And as Petmar said, make sure the mono button is not pressed (should not be lit).
