MIDI Time Code Drop-outs in Pro Tools

Hi All,

I write using Logic Pro X 10.5 as my main DAW synced over the IAC bus with PT (which I use for video playback and for delivering cues).

Since PT 2020.3 I get sound briefly dropping out in PT - because MTC sync is lost briefly with PT when I switch desktops from PT to LPX. There's a brief audio drop out when I switch desktops. This did not happen prior to 2020.3.

I’ve brought this issue up on the LPX forum and it seems the issue is definitely with PT. This can be confirmed by using Snoize (https://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/) to monitor the IAC bus. You can see the MTC data flow stop momentarily in PT - a fraction of a second - exactly at the point when switching from PT back to LPX 10.5 (or I presume any other DAW) when they are synced and running together. This is enough of a jump for the sound to drop out in PT for 1-2 seconds while it chases the sync again. I can switch desktops from LPX to PT without losing sync or getting dropouts.

I realise this is a specialised problem for someone who needs to use PT with another DAW concurrently, but I am just flagging it as an issue. I’ve contacted support but to be honest the back and forth became so protracted that I didn’t get anywhere, so I am just putting on here in case anyone in Avid reads these forums.

This issue persists in current setup: PT 2020.5 on an iMac Pro with Mojave 10.14.6 & PT 2020.11 on a MBP (2019) with Catalina 10.15.7.
