Error while loading 'EUCON' controller personality - WIN10

Hello all,

After weeks/months of working without any problem, I suddenly get the message: 'Error occured while trying to load the controller personality 'EUCON'' when trying to activate the EUCON Control Surfaces in the Peripherals>Ethernet Controllers

System: Win 10, Duodecacore i9, 128 Gb
ProTools 2022.12.0
Eucontrol 2022.12.0.81
EUCON Version 4.10.2.81

2x S1 + 2x Android Control Tablets
1x Dock
1x iPad Air 2

All hardware appears neatly in Eucontrol software.
But suddenly no communication between ProTools en EUCON hardware.

Anyone knows where the 'EUCON controller personality' is located on WIN 10 and how to remove and/or replace it?

(If I know which file(s) is/are involved, I might be able to locate it on a recent system-back-up)

I've tried removing/reinstalling both PT 2022.12.0 and Eucontrol and checking firmware.
And of course warm and cold system-restarts...

i don't know if these can be related but today i saw this message for the first time.

After this, in eucon had to manually add my 2x S1s, Dock and 3 tablets.

I think it's working fine, though i just started working...we will see.

No, this means your network is not setup correctly. You have two network adapters set to the same subnet. Computer doesn't know which to use and can cause slowness and dropped data.

How did you uninstall EUCON? You have to run the installer and check remove all Apps and remove All prefs. Not from windows.

maybe this is the cause for softkey errors in my system.

i have 3 networks(mac pro 6.1 with 2 ethernet outlets and 1 more ethernet outlet on thunderbolt dock), 1 for internet and 1 for eucon and the 1 on thunderbolt dock for neumann subwoofer. And yes, they have the same subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

How can i change it for ethernet 2 which is used for eucon?

Hi, Same subnet mask is fine. That doesn't not denote the subnet.



With a subnet mask of 255.255.255 the subnet is defined by the first 3 numbers of the IP address of your nics. So if you have more than one NIC with the same first 3 numbers, then you do have two NICs on same subnet.

For example if you have two nics with 192.168.1.xxx then you have two nics on same subnet.


If you do have two actual NICs on the same subnet, get rid of one. There is no point in having two NICs connected to the same subnet. Not referring to WIFI here, simply physical ethernet NICS.

Howard thank you so much for trying to help and get me to understand this but...it's really way over my network understanding, knowledge.

I do have some problems with eucon and cubase but they mostly seem like bugs...but this error message today (which popped up for the first time) made me thing maybe those issues are not bugs and network setup errors on
my end. though beside the bugs, softkey droupouts my system/eucon works.

so...from your message, what i understand is: my subnet mask settings are fine.

Its not the subnet number it the ip address range. are you feeding both those networks from the same router?

no, ethernet 2 goes to a switch used for eucon. the broadcom (which is ethernet port of belkin thunderbolt dock) goes directly to neumann kh750 subwoofer.

Please post both IP address of these from your workstation ethernet adapters
