Default Did I make a mistake buying mBox? Please help

I am new to PT/mBox having a bit of a learning curve.

Here is the problem
I am trying to record an analog instrument in audio track,
I've done this before and it worked.
Now there is no signal coming through.
I can hear the Keys through the headphones(thought the mBox)
but no indication it's coming though to the PT.
When I record enable the track I hear a pop and the level indicator starts showing a steady yellow line as if it is getting a signal.
When I press space bar with that track R-enabled, every other track sounds as if it is doing though "bit crusher", garbled.
It is Very frustrating. I am actually thinking of returning the mBox and getting Ableton Live with the firepod, if it's possible.
Before, I worked mostly with garageband just plugging directly into the computer getting the sound quality that is far better, clearer and stronger than what i am getting with mBox. Surely I
am doing something wrong.....

It is set In-1, Out 1-2 in I/O I tried everything....

I realise you might need more info but this is all I have.
Please help. I don't want to be disappointed with PT (and have my money waisted )
Thanks

Yea your gonna need more info than that man. Like what Pro Tools version are you running? Which Mbox do u have? 1, 2, Pro, Mini? Ive owned an Mbox (1 and Pro) for the last couple of years and really loved em. I have a feeling that if you get whatever problem your having sorted out your gonna like it too. BUT i needs more details...

there is a switch that puts the input in auto-input. It is in one of the pull down menus. Or option>K

this will fix it.
