Restart OS in Ventura ended up with Sonoma
I didn't have the right ticks in place. Did a restart this morning and ended up having Sonoma installed on the other side. Help! Can anyone offer some advice on reinstalling Ventura? I don't do Time Machine, and I've already tried the App Store. It's not allowing it through that method.
With PT's not supporting Sonoma and current projects in the works - panic is starting to set in. :) The equipment is MacPro Tower (2019) Intel. Pro Tools version 23.12.1 |

Re: Restart OS in Ventura ended up with Sonoma
Forget TM or any other kind of migration, this one requires manual work and wiping your system drive.
Backup needed files manually, take a deep breath, cup of coffee and double-check that all your needed files from system drive are safe. No, not talking about macOS or iCloud, just files you cannot afford to lose by formatting. Then reboot again with shift+option+command+R to enter internet recovery mode. Choose reinstall macOS option and install. This should erase your system drive and install the original operating system that it shipped with.

Re: Restart OS in Ventura ended up with Sonoma
Yes it's a terrible mistake but have you tried just running PT? People here seem to be doing OK.

Re: Restart OS in Ventura ended up with Sonoma
Yep, huge mistake on my part. I thought I was getting just Ventura updates as needed, and the pesky Sonoma reminders would hang out until the day I decided. OK, I was afraid of the total redo, but I've been here before.
Also - I'm going to run ProTools today and see how it plays before making the decision to go back. Thank you. |

Re: Restart OS in Ventura ended up with Sonoma
I’ve had exactly the same thing happen to me!
I’m certain I had auto updates disabled. According to the Apple support website this is happening to a lot of people. Seems to be a bug. BEWARE!! https://www.macintouch.com/post/3738...rced-installs/ Last edited by mo0kid; 01-20-2024 at 11:42 AM. |
