Default How\'s the sonic quality of the MOTU 1224 interface?

Looking to pick up a MOTU 1224 for use with LAP on a Dual 800. BUT, have not been able to A/B test it with other interfaces that I've worked with. From what I hear though, the 1224 converters (116dba S/N) are completely superior to 2408II (105dba S/N) box. ADAT/TDIF are not options I need...I can deal not having 96khz capability as well.

Anyone have first hand experience with 1224? Comparison to MOTU 1296 & RME ADI-8 Pro?

Thanks.

Motu stuff is great, but it doesn't work with Digidesign products.
