Default Help with getting the most out of DSP

Looking for some tips on how to use the mix engines and DSP more efficiently. The problem I'm running into is I'm trying to add more plug ins but I dont have enough DSP available. When I go to options-devices and look at the FOH rack i notice that some chips have multiple plug ins but then others are only being used 20-50% Is there a way I can combine the plug ins on the chips?
I was able to free two chips up by cutting down on fx returns and GEQs. Any other tips?

Im running a profile with three cards in it.

Ok here is how it goes, some plugins need a certain DSP chip, even worse they won't share. They won't let any other plugin to run at that particular chip. But you could run additional instances of that plugin on the same chip, if there is enough % available.

Then again there are other plugins that have no problem sharing DSP. Avid own plugins should be able to share, and for example Waves plugins should be able to share a chip, but only with other Waves plugins.

So a good practice would be to create a plank session and start putting your plugins up one by one and each time looking how much DSP they take and if they are able to share. If plugin name appears running on the DSP then that means no sharing. Just experiment. And rethink plugin usage, like if you need ReVibes for every reverb or might you get some done with DVerb's and some EQ perhaps?

And then again, luckily with Profile system you have two DSP card slots free, so you might prefer to go shopping

I'd just also like to throw in there to be aware of your base system settings. Those take up DSP as well. Just as an example, I got rid of all graphic eq's, set my channel count to 48 instead of 64, and I only use 8 FX channels. I know its nice to have those graphics, but I am able to add more plugins without them. I used a parametric plugin instead.
Just something else to think about.
