Default Burning at 1x with Nero

I am burning a master cd that will be used for duplication.

My version of Nero (and burner) seems to only offer 8x as
the slowest burning speed.

Is it possible to burn at 1x with Nero?

Is it any detriment to the CD to have it burned at 8x?

Will the difference be negligible?

Please advise! Thanks...

Nero simply lists all possible burn speeds for your burner with the media currently inserted. It appears that your CD burner cannot burn any lower then 8x speed. The best way to handle this is to burn multiple copies and test each copy to see which one has the fewest number of errors.

Most burners today can't burn at true single speed, and most media today actually provide better results at higher speeds. For example, my latest batch of Taiyo Yuden media gives extraordinarily good results at 16x through my Plextor 716A.

My suggestion would be to burn a few discs at different speeds, then find a pal in your area with a plextor drive to perform some QC for you to determine which is the best to send to duplication.

Don't forget to encode your ISRC's (not all burners can do this) and include a printout of all PQ subcode info accurate to the frame for your replicator.

toddamo,
If you are really in need of that feature ( current drives and media burns high quality red book masters @ 4X ) I'd suggest to look up your drive's specifications. It should list all available burning speeds. Then update the firmware ( from manufacturers support page ) and install the latest ASPI driver ..

good luck,
