PTLE - recording 16 bit in 24 bit session?

So I'm mixing through a dangerous dbox, then DBX quantum, and want to output a finished 16 bit mix back into PT on a separate stereo track . My PTLE session is 24 bit of course.

When recording this mix track, it comes in at 24 bit since the session is at that rate. Anyway to change the bit rate to 16? I don't think so, but thought I would ask....

Only solution is to have another software setup (or hardware like masterlink) to receive the 16 bit file?

You have it figured correct. It will be 24 bit when it comes back into your 24 bit session. Why not stay 24 bit and use a dither plugin on the final 2-mix before you export it? Is the Quantum only capable of outputing a 16 bit digital signal?

the Quantum does dither to 16bit, and I want the output of the quantum to be the finished output, and no further processing...guess plan B will need to happen...
