Do acid loops work on LE?
Hi, i just bought MBox 2. I have a bunch of drum loops on Acid Files from SmartLoops. Does LE7.3 support Acid files? If yes, is there a tutorial anywhere on using them?
thanks cliff

Re: Do acid loops work on LE?
Yes.
There are several different ways to use ACID files with PT. Try my basic tutorial. It's not an "in-depth" examination of the procedure, but it should get you started. P.S. Once Pro Tools 7.4 is released later in November, this won't really matter as you will be able to do it with any audio file whether it is an ACID file or not.

Re: Do acid loops work on LE?
Thanks for the help. plus you've shown me a nice resource: PT Newbie site. Why doesn't PT have something like this? Will try it when (if) i can get the LE software working again, it crashed while i was trying to fix the missing HELP pull-down.
any other suggestions for someone just starting out and extremely frustrated? adios cliff

Digidesign TV, specifically the Accelerated Videos. They actually cover one of the different ways to use ACID files in one of those. There's also The DigiZine with back issues all the way back to 2002 that include quite a few useful How-To articles. Then there's always the Pro Tools Reference Guide. BTW, the help pulldown is a bug in the software and can't be fixed by anyone but Digidesign. I'm not sure what "fix" you were trying, but since there is none, that might be your problem. The manuals included in the help pulldown are all accessible from the Windows Start menu, however, so just changing the way you look for them is the solution.

Re: Do acid loops work on LE?
I also forgot to mention; all new Pro Tools systems come with a tutorial DVD called "Method One" or M1 for short. The Method one disk covers a lot of the basics , including information on using REX and ACID files. It's listed on the DVD menu as "REX Files" in chapter 14, but they are basically the same thing, and the instruction includes references to ACID files, and goes on to chapter 15 with instruction about working with loops and grid mode.
Watching the Method One DVD should be on any new user's "to do" list.

Re: Do acid loops work on LE?
Thanks again, not sure what a BFD or a REX is, but once i get PT working again i will check it out. i ordered a training manual from Amazon that i am hoping will help me get started. The important thing is knowing ACID files work, i like the Drum Loops from Smart Loops and want to keep using them.
adios and thanks again cliff
